Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup chopped pecans Use fresh pecans for best crunch.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Light brown sugar adds molasses depth.
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup You can substitute with maple syrup, but this will alter the texture.
  • 1/4 cup melted butter Unsalted butter helps control salt.
  • 2 large eggs Room-temperature eggs mix more evenly.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 pie crust store-bought or homemade Using store-bought crust saves time.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Let the oven fully come to temp.
  2. Whisk brown sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and salt in a bowl until smooth.
  3. Stir in the chopped pecans until they’re evenly coated.
  4. Roll out the pie crust and press it into a 9-inch pie dish, trimming any ragged edges.
  5. Prick the bottom lightly if you like a crisper base.
Baking
  1. Pour the pecan mixture into the prepared crust. Tap the dish so the filling settles.
  2. Bake for 30–35 minutes until bubbling around the center and golden edges on the crust.
  3. Remove the pie and cool on a rack for at least 1 hour before slicing and serving.

Notes

Time-saver: Use a store-bought crust to shave prep time; it still tastes great. To make bars, consider using a pecan pie bars recipe for a handheld version.
