Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well blended.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
Baking
  1. Spread the dough evenly into the greased pan.
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let cool before frosting if desired.
