Preparation
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 lb of breakfast sausage and cook until fully browned, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
- Add 8 oz of softened cream cheese to the warm sausage and stir until smooth and well combined.
- Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with 2 tbsp of butter or cooking spray.
- Spread 30 oz of frozen hashbrowns evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Spoon the sausage and cream cheese mixture evenly over the hashbrowns.
- In a bowl, whisk together 6 large eggs, 1 cup of milk, 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp of pepper, and 1 tsp of garlic powder until completely blended.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the casserole, ensuring it reaches every corner. Top with 2 cups of shredded cheese.
Baking
- Place in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 45 minutes, or until the eggs are fully set and the cheese is melted and lightly golden.
- Allow the casserole to rest for about 10 minutes before slicing to let it set.
Notes
Don't overcrowd the pan while browning the sausage. Use room temperature ingredients for easier blending. Let it rest before slicing for better serving.
