  • 1 bag Frozen shredded hash browns Choose a good quality brand for the best texture.
  • 1 can Cream of chicken soup Secret to achieving a creamy, flavorful base.
  • 1 cup Sour cream For added richness and tanginess.
  • 2 cups Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded Sharp flavor complements the creamy elements.
  • 1/2 cup Melted butter Used in the filling and topping.
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 medium Onion, diced
Topping
  • 2 cups Cornflakes or buttery crackers, crushed Adds crunch to the topping.

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly butter your baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine thawed hash browns, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, shredded cheddar, melted butter, salt, pepper, and diced onion until evenly mixed.
  3. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix crushed cornflakes or crackers with a bit of melted butter, then sprinkle over the casserole evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 55 minutes until hot and golden brown, ensuring the edges are bubbling.
  2. Allow the casserole to sit for 5 to 10 minutes before serving to help it set.
