Ingredients

For the filling
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ cup yellow onion, diced
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded melts nicely
For the rollups
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted unsalted preferred
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder for the butter
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped optional garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment or spray lightly.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium. Add the ground beef and diced onion; cook for about 8–10 minutes until the meat is browned.
  3. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder while the beef cooks; stir until onions soften.
  4. Drain excess grease and let the mixture cool for a few minutes.
  5. Unroll the crescent dough and separate into 8 triangles.
  6. Stir the shredded cheddar into the beef mixture.
Assembly
  1. Scoop a heaping tablespoon of the beef mixture onto the wide end of each triangle.
  2. Roll each triangle from the wide end toward the point, sealing the seams and placing them seam-side down on the sheet.
  3. Brush the tops with melted butter mixed with garlic powder.
Baking
  1. Bake for 12–15 minutes until the rollups are golden brown and crisp.
  2. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

Make ahead by browning the beef and refrigerating, then fill and bake when ready. For variations, try smoked paprika or add jalapeño for spice.
