  • 1 head cabbage Choose a firm cabbage that feels heavy for its size.
  • 1 each onion A sweet onion works wonderfully.
  • 2 tsp minced garlic Fresh garlic is preferred.
  • 5 strips bacon Thick-cut bacon for optimal flavor.

Method
 

Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy, approximately 8-10 minutes. Remove the bacon and reserve the grease.
  2. In the same skillet with the reserved bacon grease, add the chopped onion. Cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low, then add the chopped cabbage. Stir well, cover, and let simmer until the cabbage is tender, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Season the cabbage with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste. Sauté uncovered for 2-3 minutes to blend the flavors.
  6. Top the cooked cabbage with crumbled bacon and serve warm.

Notes

Don't overcrowd the pan for even cooking. Bring ingredients to room temperature for best results. Use high-quality bacon for better flavor.
