Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit until foamy, about 5-10 minutes.
- Add melted butter, salt, and beaten egg to the yeast mixture. Stir to combine.
- Gradually add flour, 1 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm area until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place in a greased 9x13 baking dish, leaving some space between each roll.
- Cover the dish and let the rolls rise again for about 30 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 190°F (88°C). Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Store leftover rolls in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven to keep them soft.
