Main Ingredients
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts Using quality chicken ensures a juicy outcome.
  • 1 cup salsa Look for a medium heat salsa to enhance flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon taco seasoning Classic blend for authentic taste.
  • 8 pieces taco shells Choose hard or soft shells based on preference.
Toppings
  • cheese, lettuce, avocado, sour cream Get creative with your favorite toppings.

Method

Preparation
  1. Place the chicken breasts in the slow cooker, ensuring they lay flat for even cooking.
  2. Pour 1 cup of salsa over the chicken and sprinkle 1 teaspoon taco seasoning evenly on top.
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the chicken is cooked through.
  2. Remove the chicken from the cooker and shred it with two forks.
  3. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker with the juices, mix well, and serve in taco shells.

Notes

Don't overcrowd the slow cooker for even cooking. Use a thermometer to ensure chicken reaches 165°F before removal. Let it rest for a few minutes after shredding.
