  • 2 lbs Sirloin steak, cut into strips Tender cuts like sirloin recommended
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil Extra virgin preferred
  • 1 cup Chopped onions
  • 2 slices Bell peppers, sliced Use a mix of colors for flavor and visual appeal
  • 1 cube Beef bouillon Enhances beef flavor
  • cup Hot water For dissolving bouillon
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch For thickening sauce
  • 3 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste Freshly ground black pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sirloin strips and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until browned on all sides.
  2. In a small bowl, dissolve 1 beef bouillon cube in ⅔ cup hot water. Whisk in 1 tablespoon of cornstarch until smooth, then add 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of brown sugar, and 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce.
Cooking
  1. Pour the bouillon mixture into the crockpot. Add the sautéed beef along with 1 cup of chopped onions and season to taste with freshly ground black pepper.
  2. Cover and cook on high for 3 hours or low for 6-7 hours, stirring occasionally.
  3. About 1 hour before serving, stir in 2 sliced bell peppers and cook until tender.
Serving
  1. Enjoy hot over rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes.

Notes
