Method
Preparation
- Rinse the strawberries gently and lay them on a paper towel to dry completely.
Melting Chocolate
- Choose a melting method—microwave or double boiler.
- For the microwave method, place chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
- For the double boiler method, fill a pot with a little water and place a heatproof bowl on top. Add chocolate chips and coconut oil. Stir until melted, watching to ensure it doesn’t burn.
Dipping Strawberries
- Grasp a strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate, covering about two-thirds.
- Let the excess chocolate drip off and place it on parchment paper.
Optional White Chocolate Drizzle
- If feeling fancy, melt some white chocolate and use a fork to drizzle it over the dipped strawberries.
Setting the Chocolate
- Allow the chocolate to harden, which should take about 30 minutes at room temperature.
Storage of Leftover Chocolate
- If you have leftover chocolate, keep it warm in the slow-cooker on the 'keep warm' setting as you finish dipping.
Notes
Use store-bought pre-melted chocolate for quicker results. Always ensure strawberries are thoroughly dry to help chocolate stick. Adding a pinch of sea salt can enhance flavor.
