Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 10 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil Makes the chocolate glossy.
  • 2 pounds fresh strawberries Stems attached, ensure they are dry.
Optional Toppings
  • Mini chocolate chips For extra decoration.
  • Chopped nuts Customize to your liking.
  • Sweetened shredded coconut Optional for added flavor.
  • Melted white chocolate For drizzle, optional.

Method

Preparation
  1. Rinse the strawberries gently and lay them on a paper towel to dry completely.
Melting Chocolate
  1. Choose a melting method—microwave or double boiler.
  2. For the microwave method, place chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
  3. For the double boiler method, fill a pot with a little water and place a heatproof bowl on top. Add chocolate chips and coconut oil. Stir until melted, watching to ensure it doesn’t burn.
Dipping Strawberries
  1. Grasp a strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate, covering about two-thirds.
  2. Let the excess chocolate drip off and place it on parchment paper.
Optional White Chocolate Drizzle
  1. If feeling fancy, melt some white chocolate and use a fork to drizzle it over the dipped strawberries.
Setting the Chocolate
  1. Allow the chocolate to harden, which should take about 30 minutes at room temperature.
Storage of Leftover Chocolate
  1. If you have leftover chocolate, keep it warm in the slow-cooker on the 'keep warm' setting as you finish dipping.

Notes

Use store-bought pre-melted chocolate for quicker results. Always ensure strawberries are thoroughly dry to help chocolate stick. Adding a pinch of sea salt can enhance flavor.
