Preparation
- Divide the pound of beef into two equal patties. Season both sides with salt and pepper. Press gently; don’t overwork the meat.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high and sauté patties until browned and cooked to liking, about 3–4 minutes per side for medium.
- Cook bacon until crisp and set aside. In the same pan, add the thin onion slices and cook until soft and golden, about 6–8 minutes; toss occasionally.
French Toast Cooking
- Whisk together eggs, heavy cream, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth and slightly frothy.
- Dip each bread slice into the egg mix, letting it soak for 5–10 seconds per side, then cook in a buttered skillet over medium heat until golden and slightly crisp, 2–3 minutes per side.
Assembly
- Spread Big Mac sauce inside bread if desired. Place one beef patty on two slices, top each with a slice of American cheese, two bacon strips, and the cooked onions.
- Close with the second piece of French toast, press lightly, slice, and serve warm while the cheese is melty and the toast still has a slight crisp.
Notes
Time-saver: Cook bacon and onions while patties rest to save minutes. Common mistake: Don’t soak bread too long or it gets soggy. Simple variation: Add smoked paprika for a smoky note.
