Ingredients

Pudding Mixture
  • 1 package 5.1 oz instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2.75 cups cold whole milk
  • 1 package 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 can 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Whipped Cream
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
Layers
  • 1 box Nilla Wafers (about 11 oz)
  • 4-5 pieces ripe bananas, sliced
  • Optional: crushed Nilla Wafers and banana slices for garnish

Method

Prepare the Pudding
  1. In a large bowl, whisk the vanilla pudding mix with cold milk for about 2 minutes. Set aside in the fridge for 10 minutes to set completely.
Make the Cream Cheese Filling
  1. In a medium mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until it’s smooth and fluffy. Add the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract. Mix until silky and combined. Fold in the prepared vanilla pudding.
Whip the Cream
  1. In a chilled bowl, beat the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form. Save half for the topping, then gently fold the other half into the pudding mixture.
Assemble the Layers
  1. In a 9×13 inch glass dish or a trifle bowl, start by layering Nilla Wafers at the bottom. Add a layer of banana slices, followed by a generous layer of the pudding-cream cheese mixture. Repeat these layers until everything is used, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.
Garnish and Chill
  1. Sprinkle crushed Nilla Wafers and extra banana slices on top for garnish. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight if possible before serving.

Notes

For a lighter option, use low-fat versions of cream cheese and condensed milk. Keep in mind that overmixing the whipped cream can lead to a grainy texture.
